The 2011 Tusk Festival will be held in Newcastle, UK, a beautiful city in North eastern England. The festival will be held in from Friday October 7 to Sunday, October 9, 2011. It will be taking place in four different sessions, starting Friday, October 7 and 6:30pm at The Cluny and continuing on Saturday and Sunday at a combination of The Cluny and another venue, Star and Shadow.
What to Expect This weekend of music will feature an eclectic mix of international artists playing in some of the city's favorite music venues, Star and Shadow and The Cluny. Some of the artists who are expected to appear include Hype Williams, Hiss Golden Messenger, Bong, Cath and Phil Tyler, Rhys Chatham and Natural Snow Buildings.
In addition to the shows, there are also a number of other special events. These include panel discussions and talks that cover topics such as running an independent music organization and ways to get your music to an audience. Individuals who are interested in attending the Tusk Festival can purchase a weekend pass, a bracelet they can wear to get into all four of the sessions for £30. Individual passes to get into the sessions that you're most interested in area are also available for £10 each.
What's the Line Up?
On Friday evening, guests can listen to an artist lineup that include Bill Orcutt, Grouper, Takahashi and Foot Hair. Before the 1pm concert, one of the panel discussions will be taking place. The afternoon concert includes the artists Rhys Chatham, Cat Band and Bong. The evening show features Alvarius B, Pulse Emitter and The Long Lonesome Go. On Sunday, there are talks at 1 and 3pm, followed by 5pm show at Star and Shadow that includes B.O.C. and The Hunter Gracchus.
