If you’re looking for somewhere to grab brunch, Heaton is a great shout – it’s always been a hotspot for amazing eateries.
Situated just outside of Newcastle's city centre, it's a fairly quiet neighbourhood that's full of exciting independents. And none more so than the newest addition to Heaton Road, Lost & Found. Nestled among Heaton's most popular brunch spots, what's great about Lost & Found is that it's still flying under the radar as the street’s newcomer; which is great if you don't like the idea of waiting a while for your food! If you're looking for somewhere to while away a few hours on a weekend, this little hidden gem is perfect.
Small but perfectly formed, the decor is like something from a bygone era, with its Gatsby-style adding just a hint of faded glamour. And you’ll be glad to know there’s an equally decadent menu to match. What's interesting is that while they offer a range of brunch favourites (like avo toast and poached eggs with hollandaise), their menu tries to offer something a little different. From pancakes and indulgent combinations of egg and sour dough (including quirky ham hock and pea combinations), the dishes are carefully thought out, offering mouth-watering combinations of flavours. Not to mention that each dish is carefully presented - it's not just about the taste at Lost & Found.
While their menu offers a whole range of delicious options that I'd suggest you try, their pancakes are easily the winner for me! Deliciously light and fluffy, they're topped with the most incredible combinations. If you're feeling in the mood for chocolate, try the chocolate smores pancakes coated in Nutella and biscotti spread with toasted marshmallows. Or if you'd like something a little fruitier, my pick would be the fluffy pancakes with granola, whipped mascarpone, fresh berries, elderflower syrup and fruit compote. Beautifully presented, it comes carefully decorated with delicate edible flowers... definitely a dedicated Instagrammer's delight!
