The summer season is finally here and the sun has graced us with warm weather and longer days.  This summer will see some fantastic events taking place.

From across the UK, we have selected a mixture of events taking place in June from sports, art and music.  So if you are planning a trip to the UK, take a look at some of the exciting events and festivals taking place.

Wimbledon Tennis Championship

27th June – 10th July

Wimbledon

The summer season really only means one thing to tennis and sports fanatics – Wimbledon!  The world’s longest and major sporting event is back and takes place over a period of two weeks.

This year’s players will include Single Championship winners Andy Murray and Serena Williams.  Andy Murry won the Men’s Single tournament at Wimbledon back in 2013 while Serena Williams is well known to many tennis fans having won the Ladies Singles tournament five times in 2002, 2003, 2009, 2010 and 2012.

Wimbledon

This is a real treat for art and music lovers.  For one day, spread over 18 locations in Birmingham will see over 120 artists painting on wall space, canvas and boards.  There are some fantastic workshops for younger adults to attend where they can learn the basics of photography, graffiti art and even breaking dancing.

Music will be performed in the festival venues throughout the day; you can read more on their music page for information on the bands playing on the day.  Other activities include acrobatics, skate ramps and face painting.

Entrance into the City of Colours festival is free, but you can make a small donation into one of their donation buckets.

Wild Life Festival

11th - 12th June

Wimbledon

The season of festivals is back and we could not be happier.  The Wild Life festival has returned for a second year after winning ‘Best New Festival’ at the 2015 UK festival awards.  The festival is located beside Brighton city airport. 

The festival has five stages in total with 87 fantastic artists playing over the two days.  The festival has popular acts with Rudimental and Disclosure playing the main stages. 

Weekend tickets cost £115.50 or you can pay £129.25 for a weekend ticket with a return bus, you can read more on their ticket enquiry page.

Cardiff Fringe Festival

20th – 25th June

The Cardiff Fringe Festival is five days of performing arts in different locations around Cardiff.  This is the first year of the Fringe Festival and will no doubt be of interest to culture and art fanatics.    

The festival will include affordable programmes in non-theatrical venues and will include two fantastic workshops over the week for those who are thinking of setting up a theatrical business.

Southwell Festival 2016

9th- 12th June

Southwell Festival 2016

This year the Southwell Festival is celebrating its 10th festival on the grounds of Southport racecourse.  The festival will be of interest to lovers of folk music with headline favourites Hayseed Dixie and Show of Hands.  The festival is a family friendly with activities for the kids to enjoy such as storytellers and visit Jan’s Van for dressing up games and painting.
