Dublin may be the home of Guinness, however, it’s also packed with some fantastic whiskey bars if the heady tipple is your drink of choice. Heading to the Emerald Isle’s capital for a few days? Make sure you check out one (or all!) of these whiskey bars in Dublin. Sláinte!

57 The Headline

For somewhere casual with great food and a great range of whiskeys, considering making a trip to 57 The Headline at Merchants Quay. You’ll find numerous Irish whiskeys behind the bar, including aged bottles of Jameson and some Teeling Whiskey whose visitors centre is found just around the corner. What’s more, the bar offers various different tasting trays if you’re looking to discover a new favourite.

The Dingle Whiskey Bar

As you might suspect from its name, the Dingle Whiskey Bar on Nassau Street specialises in the popular tipple. In fact, it’s one of the best places for whiskey tasting in Dublin thanks to its purpose-built tasting bar and amazing whiskey tasting packages. Owned by the Dingle Distillery in County Kerry, you’ll be spoilt for choice by the bar’s selection of over 100 varieties of whiskey. Don’t forget to check out the rustic wooden décor that’s largely made from old whiskey barrels.

Against the Grain

This lively bar is brought to the city by the Galway Bay Brewery and it not only focuses its menu on craft beers, but whiskey, too. They even mix the two together with their 200 Fathoms beer that’s aged in whiskey-soaked barrels! You’ll find Against the Grain on Wexford Street, just minutes from St Stephen’s Green, and it’s a great choice if one of you fancies whiskey and the other a refreshing pint.

Bowes Lounge

This pub in Temple Bar is full of old-world charm as well as being the perfect place to sip on a whiskey or two. It’s been serving up drinks since the 1880s and currently has one of the best ranges of Irish whiskey in the city. If you go on a Sunday night, you’ll even be entertained by traditional Irish musicians as you drink!

Searsons Whiskey Bar

For a whiskey bar in Dublin with an extensive collection and a team of knowledgeable staff, you can’t beat Searsons. The 1920s interiors make it feel like your stepping back in time, while the impressive Middleton Very Rare Whiskey Display right behind the bar features bottles from the famous brand dating back to 1984. Whether you’re after a vintage whiskey or a new label, you’ll undoubtedly find the perfect drink at Searsons.

Peruke & Periwig

Prefer your whiskey in a cocktail? You’ll want to head to Peruke & Periwig, a characterful bar on popular Dawson Street. The décor is atmospherically vintage – think wood panelled walls, velvet sofas and flickering candles – and you’ll find an extensive menu of long drinks, including a classic Old Fashioned made from Roe & Co Irish Whiskey. Peruke & Periwig even has a tempting food offering of classic Irish dishes if you feel like turning your whiskey tasting in Dublin into a food tasting, too.

Rest up after your whiskey tasting session at one of our conveniently located Dublin Leonardo hotels right in the heart of the city.
