As one of our top destinations and a much loved city, Dublin is well worth a road trip to this summer. It really is a city bursting with attractions, bars, pubs, culture, heritage and a fascinating history. There are plenty of ‘mainstream’ attractions to discover from the Guinness Storehouse and The Old Jameson Distillery to Dublinia and Dublin Castle. However, for this summer’s road-trippers, we decided to round up some attractions that help visitors really Discover Dublin.

A truly unique attraction, the National Leprechaun Museum is a fantastic Dublin gem to discover. This cultural journey uncovers what lies beneath the tales of leprechauns, rainbows and pots of gold as you enter the world of Irish Myth.

Ideal for all the family, this attraction offers a fun and engaging day of imagination with a fully interactive experience that immerses you in the Irish cultural identity and mythology. From journeying beneath the rocks of the Giant’s Causeway to experiencing the realities of a leprechaun-sized world, this museum is without a doubt our top pick for road tripping to Dublin.

The museum is open every day between 10am and 6.30pm, with tickets costing €12 for adults, €8 for children aged 3-11 years and €3 for children under three. The museum is no more than a ten-minute walk from all three of our hotels in Dublin.

Le Cool Walking Tours

Enjoy an alternative, bespoke tour around Dublin city centre. The Le Cool walking tour is ‘a laid-back’ experience where you never know exactly what experience you are going to have. It’s the perfect attraction for those who enjoy a little spontaneity, and can include anything from DIY culture, street art, fashion, emerging music, artists, and historical hidden gems.

A much loved writer, a visit to Dublin is not complete without a trip to this fantastic exhibition – Yeats: The Life and Works of William Butler Yeats. Discover the ‘multimedia rich’ experience as you learn about the life and work of this legendary Irish writer. The exhibition was described by the Irish Times as ‘one of the most important literary exhibitions yet staged internationally’.

Entry is free and there are ‘drop-in’ guided tours available on Wednesdays at 1pm and Saturdays at 3pm. Located in the National Library of Ireland,which is under a 20-minute walk from all three of our dublin hotels, this cultural gem should not be missed.

The International Bar

This bar is steeped with history and cultural heritage laying claims as a true Dublin Joycean pub. Retaining its original Victorian décor with beautiful mahogany reredos and brass taps, The International Bar’s atmosphere oozes traditional Irish pub. Playing host to a range of writers, poets, comedians, musicians and even political characters, this bar is a beacon for Irish culture and a must visit for anyone wanting to truly discover Dublin.

The International bar is always host to a range of events and is famed for outstanding comedy, making it worth visiting for entertainment as well as a pint of Guinness. Take a look at ‘what’s on’ for more information. The international Bar is just a two-minute walk from our Christchurch hotel, and under 20 minutes from both Custom House and Parnell Street hotels.

Viking Splash Tours

Fantastically unusual, the Viking Splash Tours offer a fun and unique method of discovering Dublin. This tour takes you around the sights of the city by both land and water! Yes, Splash tours use a World War Two ‘amphibious’ vehicle to show you all that Dublin has to offer both on land and in the water, making it a day out with a difference.

The friendly staff offer an interesting commentary on the sights while captivating and entertaining the participants, and with an exciting Viking theme that is both imaginative and engaging, this attraction is perfect for all the family.
