We know how stressful planning a holiday can be so we have picked four of Leonardo Hotels favorite Seaside cities and created a series of city guides on things to do with kids.

Our Second Guide covers fun things to do in Plymouth whatever the weather because we know that English weather just cannot be trusted! Should the heavens begin to pour on your holiday, or the summer weather finally arrives and the sun decides to shine, you will have family fun activities at the ready.

So without further ado, here is Leonardo Hotel’s pick of Plymouth’s top kid’s attractions:

Summer Holidays in Plymouth

Plymouth Outdoor Activities:

Tinside Lido:

Tinside Lido offers three fountains, a fantastic outdoor saltwater pool with inflatable fun sessions for the kids, and a sunbathing terrace that includes loungers and deckchairs for the parents to enjoy. There is also catering, vending machines, and a swim shop on-site.

Plymouth’s Waterfront Walkway:

With the South West Coast path National Trail covering 630 miles of coastline from Minehead to Poole, the Plymouth’s Waterfront Walkway offers just a fraction of the diverse landscapes and rich history and culture that the southern coastline has to offer.

Dartmoor Zoo:

Dartmoor Zoo is definitely not one to miss while visiting Plymouth with kids. From deer, ostriches and meerkats to Lions, tiger and bears (Oh My), Dartmoor Zoo has a great range of animals to see. The Zoo also offers places to eat, a picnic area, kids play area, education centre and even Wowballs.

Summer season opening times are 10am -6pm every day. If you are travelling from Leonardo Hotel Plymouth, the Zoo is either a 20 minute drive away, or a 30 minute bus ride on the 59 bus from Royal Parade, stop A10 to outside the Zoo’s main gate. The Bus doesn’t run on Sundays.

Plymouth Indoor Activities

National Marine Aquarium:

The National Marine Aquarium is located on the Historic barbican and is the biggest aquarium in the UK. With over 50 tanks, a 4D cinema, discovery zone and an incredible collection of sharks, rays and jellyfish, the underwater adventure is fun for the whole family!

A Family ticket for 2 adults and 2 children usually costs £37, however Leonardo Hotel Plymouth offers a ‘Deep Sea Special’ which includes a family ticket to the Aquarium when booking a room with us- offering a discounted price for both room and ticket.

Tenpin Plymouth:

Bowling is not the most original of activities, however, when its pouring with rain outside it’s always good to know where the nearest bowling alley is located. Tenpin Plymouth has 24 computerised lanes, 11 American pool tables 2 English pool tables and amusement arcades all family ready.

Located in the Barbican Leisure Park, just a short 12 minute walk from Leonardo Hotels, there is also a Frankie and Benny’s right next door to feed hungry mouths, as well as a Vue cinema, should the weather not improve.
