Whether you’re a label lover or you prefer hunting for treasures in independent boutiques, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to indulge in a shopping spree in Birmingham. England’s second city is fit to bursting with great retail options, from modern shopping centres to elegant arcades.

Book a weekend at our conveniently located Leonardo Hotel's and make the most of Birmingham’s city centre shops. Not sure exactly where you should go for some retail therapy? Read on for our top picks in Brum.

High Street Favourites and Department Stores at the Bullring

Want to check out all the latest offerings from your favourite High Street stores? The Bullring is not only Birmingham’s best shopping destination, but also one of the most visited shopping centres in the UK. It’s full of great clothes shops - including Barbour, Hollister and Mango – as well as several huge department stores like Selfridges and Debenhams.

Fancy a bite to eat while you shop? Head to Spiceal Street, the Bullring’s dining area that has over 20 different restaurants to tempt your taste buds.

Independent Pop-up Stores at the Custard Factory

Love discovering quirky independent shops? Birmingham’s Custard Factory is the place to go. Found in the city’s creative Digbeth neighbourhood, it’s – unsurprisingly – located on the site of a former Bird’s custard factory that’s been turned into a dynamic shopping and dining venue.

Discover quirky art galleries, one-off clothing boutiques and shops selling cool skateboarding gear. Custard Factory also houses Beer Digbeth, a craft beer tasting room, and The Mockingbird Cinema and Kitchen, a lively bistro and creative space.

Designer Labels at The Mailbox

If you’re looking to splurge in designer shops in Birmingham, look no further than The Mailbox. Formally a Royal Mail sorting office, it’s swapped parcels and letters for gorgeous gear from the likes of Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss and Paul Smith. It’s not just fashion, though. Head to The Mailbox’s MADE.com store for luxury homeware and furnishings.

The Mailbox additionally backs onto one of Birmingham’s many famous canals where you’ll discover a range of high-end dining options with watery views.

Finds at Great Western Arcade

If you can’t resist a sugary treat, make sure Great Western Arcade is on your to-do list. The beautiful building is found just off Temple Row and it’s a warren of charming shops perfect for food and drink aficionados. Sample some fine wine at Loki Wine, pick up a box of delicious truffles at Chouchoute Chocolaterie or savour some homemade macaroons at Miss Macaroon.

In need of pampering? Great Western Arcade also hosts some of the city’s best spas and hair salons, including At Day One Spa.

Looking for the perfect place to lay your head after a busy day of shopping? Head to Leonardo Hotel Birmingham. Aside from being a great shopping destination, Birmingham offers a multitude of exciting activities and attractions to explore, and our Birmingham City Guide can provide you with numerous suggestions.
