Britain loves its comedy and alongside the various Fringe Festivals that sweep the country during the summer period, the autumn offers a quartet of comedy festivals for you to sink your teeth into. Laugh, giggle, snort and cry as you unlock your inner comedian and enjoy laughter induced merriment. With names such as Bill Bailey, John Bishop and Russell Brand performing, the trickiest decision will be which city festival to visit! So Leonardo Hotels has collected together a selection of ‘shows to watch out for’ from each comedy festival to help make the decision that much easier.


Nottingham Comedy Festival


Running from Friday, 20 September until Saturday, 28 September, Nottingham Comedy Festival offers a weeklong line up of the finest comedians. With a mix of new comedians and the well-established ones, Nottingham Comedy Festival aspires to bring all the comedy in Nottingham together for everyone to enjoy. Shows to watch out for include Bill Bailey: Qualmpeddler (20 September), Sunday Afternoon Delight (22 September), the Noise Next Door (22 September), James Mullinger is Living the Dream (25 September), and The Best in Live Stand-up Comedy (20, 21, 27, 28 September).

 

Liverpool Comedy Festival


The Liverpool Comedy Festival offers ten glorious days of non-stop comedy bursting at the seams with comedians from the big names to the small ones. From 27 September to 7 October discover someone new, enjoy the performers you love, catch the multi-comedian shows and ride the laughter rollercoaster of comedy styles – The Liverpool Comedy Festival is your oyster. Shows to watch out for include Comedy Central’s Baby Blue (on-going), Chris Cairns: Fact Off (3 October ), Jack Dee (28 September), John Bishop: Rollercoaster (1-6 October), Sarah Millican: Thoroughly Modern Millican (1 October), Jack and James (5 October), and Seann Walsh (6 October).


Birmingham Comedy Festival


Birmingham Comedy Festival has a fantastic line-up this October with appearances from big names such as Russell Brand, Adam Hills and up and comer Roisin Conaty. With over 60 events across Birmingham including theatre, film, burlesque, music and much more, this comedy festival will be filled with more than just laughter. Running from October 4th -13th there will be plenty to keep you entertained, but here is Leonardo Hotel’s comedy picks of shows to watch out for: Nine Conti: Dolly Mixtures (October 5th), Harriet Dyer: Barking at Aeroplanes (October 13th), Laughing Cows Comedy Night (October 9th), Russell Brand: Messiah Complex (October 7-8th), Roisin Conaty: Lifehunter (October 11th), and Adam Hills: Happyism (October 6th).


Brighton Comedy Festival


Bringing together many big comedy names and plenty of smaller up and comers, Brighton Comedy Festival has a plethora of comedy at the ready. Running from October 4-20th, Brighton offers sixteen fabulous days jam-packed with performance gems from our favourite comedians. Despite featuring many names already mentioned above, you will not be short for choice with appearances from Jason Manford, Ed Byrne, Jimmy Carr and Sean Lock. It will be the perfect time to hit the beautiful seaside town and soak up the crisp autumn weather and immerse yourself in Britain’s finest comedians.
