The Royal Albert Hall is one of London's most treasured music venues especially at Christmas time. Since its inception in 1871 by Queen Victoria, popular artists from all over the world have made their way to the Royal Albert Hall to perform on stage. However, there is nothing more special than its annual Christmas Festival. The annual Christmas festival is a month long, and you'll be able to hear concerts almost every day. Whether you enjoy traditional carols or festive choral pieces, there's sure to be some type of live holiday music that you'll enjoy.
Christmas Festival at Royal Albert Hall - Famous Faces The festival starts off with a Salvation Army concert featuring a performance by the famous Katherine Jenkins, singing her popular arias and operatic songs, as well as traditional Christmas carols. This portion of the festival will without a doubt put you in the spirit of the holiday season.
Christmas Festival at Royal Albert Hall - Christmas Carols The majority of the gala performances will feature classic Christmas carols and holiday sing-a-longs as well as the family show, Santa's Christmas Cracker. These gala performances are ideal for kids and their parents, and are sure to put everyone in a cheery mood. Christmas Festival at Royal Albert Hall - Concerts by Candlelight
Some of the truly wonderful aspects of the festival are the concerts by candlelight, which come near the end of the festival's month-long duration. Three concerts all set amid lit candles will be sure to put you in the mood for Christmas Day. You can hear pieces by Mozart, Handel, Bach and Corelli, as well as classic songs like Hark! The Herald Angles Sing, O Come All Ye Faithful and O Little Town of Bethlehem. Also, most musicians will be dressed in 18th century period costumes.
