As overnight stays and weekends away are officially back on, we surveyed 1,500 Brits to reveal which celebrity they’d most like to wake up and roll over to in the morning.
In fact, Google search data revealed that between January 2020 and March 2021 searches around romantic celebrity dreams increased by a whopping 154%, showing we’re not alone when fantasising about our favourite celebrity crush. But as a nation, who are we lusting after the most?
With overnight stays and weekends away officially back on from 17th May, we surveyed 1,500 Brits to reveal which celebrity they’d most like to wake up and roll over to in the morning.
Whilst she might host a popular breakfast radio show, it’s clearly not just her voice we dream of waking up, Amanda Holden topped the list of female celebrities Brits would most like to wake up to in the morning. The Britain’s Got Talent judge dominated the results, snapping up top spot in 9 of the 17 cities surveyed, including Leeds, Liverpool and Nottingham.
Not everyone looks their sexiest when they first wake up, but it’s hard to imagine that our first-place male celebrity Jason Statham would look anything but. The hunky Hollywood actor pipped none other than the Duke of Hastings to the top spot, with the survey revealing Jason’s most popular in Belfast, Cardiff, Newcastle and Sheffield.
Other celebrities who made it into the top 10 include, Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke in second place, who ranked highest in her home city of London and One Direction alumni Harry Styles, who was popular in Edinburgh, Liverpool and Newcastle. TV and radio personality Maya Jama was also a popular choice, snatching the top spot in Brighton and Norwich.
It seems that as a nation, the way to our hearts might be through our stomachs, with popular TV chefs Nigella Lawson and Gino D’Acampo both making the list – just imagine the breakfast in bed!
Though Prince William and Meghan Markle didn’t make the top 10, their spouses Kate Middleton and Prince Harry proved popular with the British public, ranking in fourth and fifth place respectively.
It turns out, reality star and Instagram queen, Kim Kardashian is the most popular female celebrity amongst the LGBTQ+ community, beating out her sister Khloe and actress Emilia Clarke. Fitness fanatic Joe Wicks was the favourite amongst gay men, coming in ahead of Gino D’Acampo and Radio One DJ Greg James to take the top spot. With Line of Duty still fresh in the nation’s memory, it’s no wonder actor Martin Compston appeared third in the list.
While age might just be a number, it clearly alters which celebrity we’d like to wake up alongside.
For millennials and gen Z, females including Meghan Markle, Maya Jama, Emilia Clarke and Kim Kardashian proved popular, whilst male celebrities included Harry Styles, Prince Harry and Regé-Jean Page.
For those Brits aged 45+, the celebrities they’d most like to see in just their pyjamas included Jason Statham, Nigella Lawson and Amanda Holden. Gino D’Acampo, Emilia Clarke and Martin Compston also made an appearance.
Interestingly, the results also reveal a clear divide into the royals that hold our affections, with the younger age groups daydreaming of a morning spent with Prince Harry or Meghan Markle, whilst older Brits favoured Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Whilst we can’t guarantee a celebrity guest in your bed when we reopen on May 17, we can offer a great night’s sleep and a night away from home. Choose from one of our fantastic locations including hotels in Leeds city centre and our Bradford hotel.
