London is the home of Rock ‘n’ Roll and Manchester’s where Britpop was born, but in Liverpool music of all shapes and sounds comes alive. It’s one of the most dynamic musical cities in the UK, with a tangible genre-defining history and a thriving contemporary scene. Local artists make names for themselves from Seel Street to the Baltic Triangle – with bands coming from across the universe to play in the renowned Cabin Club. Here’s our guide to the best music venues in the city, so you don’t get lost in the noise when you visit Leonardo Hotel Liverpool.

Arts Club
Just a 7-minute drive from Leonardo Hotel LiverpoolIn this ever-changing urban landscape, it’s nice to know that some things stay the same. The Arts Club has always been, and probably always will be, the go-to gig venue in Liverpool. Situated at the heart of Seel Street, this trendy musical theatre was once the iconic Barfly. Despite a lavish refurbishment, it remains the same teeming hub of live musical performance that people have enjoyed for years.

Stop by on any Thursday in November for an Indie Disco that doesn’t take itself too seriously, or book tickets to the ever-popular electro event that is Medication. Tickets for Arts Club gigs range upwards of £5.

Maguire’s Pizza Bar
Just a 9-minute drive from Leonardo Hotel LiverpoolThe greasy worlds of punk and pizza come together in Maguire’s Pizza Bar, the compact, threadbare venue of choice for up-and-coming bands that need nothing more than a space to play. There’s no stage and little lighting, but what it lacks in technical prowess, Maguire’s makes up for with pure charm. It’s got just enough room to mosh without stepping on the band’s toes, and plenty of cheap and cheerful pizza slices to fuel your head-banging.

See what Maguire’s is all about this November 17th at the Dead Good Gathering; a socially-conscious punk / ska / hardcore / folk extravaganza.

STUDIO2
Just a 9-minute drive from Leonardo Hotel Liverpool, ever wanted to watch music in a live recording studio? Now you can. Enter Studio2, the recording studio which has hosted the likes of Coldplay, Black Sabbath and The Smiths. The studio doubles as a bar and gig venue, so you can come to watch pure local talent or even hire the place out to record some music yourself.

Keep an eye on their website as they release more information about gigs and events in the run-up to Christmas.

ECHO Arena
Just a 5-minute walk from Leonardo Hotel LiverpoolIf you’re looking for some magic this December, then accio up some tickets to see the live orchestral performance of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets at the Echo Arena. Relive the adventure in high-definition on the big-screen, with a live orchestra performing the movie’s iconic score throughout this wizarding sequel.

Tickets for the 1st December event are in high-demand, so prepare to duel for your place at this family-favourite event.

For an alternative taste of magic on your trip to Liverpool, grab a plate of magical fruit and veg at the Egg Café, which appeared on our list of the top veggie restaurants in the UK.
