Location: Barbican Art Gallery
Head to the Barbican Art Gallery to witness Postwar Modern: New Art in Britain 1945-1965. This fascinating exhibition explores art produced in Britain after World War II. It portrays an uncertain time defined by hope for a brighter future, which gave rise to a unique type of art.
The display features around 200 paintings, as well as sculptures, photography, and other works of art. It looks at subjects such as the post-atomic condition and the Blitzed streetscape, depicted by minimalist, pop, and abstract art forms. It’s a truly eye-opening exhibition that gives an insight into what life was like after the war.

Location: Tate Britain
Cornelia Parker is one of Britain’s most acclaimed contemporary artists, and you can witness her brilliant work for yourself this year at Tate Britain. Parker’s artistic style is interesting and unique. She uses techniques such as transformation and storytelling to highlight important issues of our time.
Expect large-scale installations at this solo exhibition, including an entire room filled with Remembrance Day poppies. The exhibition will also showcase some of Parker’s most exquisite photographs, prints and drawings.

Learn about the world of surrealism at Tate Modern. An art movement that originally began in Paris, surrealism has since expanded across the globe and inspired a multitude of artists.
The Surrealism Beyond Borders exhibition is a fabulous display of surrealist artwork from around the world. It explores how artists have become united by surrealism. It showcases work from Asia to North Africa, Eastern Europe to the Caribbean. Each piece is defined by notions such as humour and subversion of reality.

Location: The National Gallery
Witness the works of Italian Renaissance artist Raffaello Santi (more commonly referred to as Raphael) at The National Gallery. Poet, archaeologist and painter, Raphael (1483-1520) was known for his large figure compositions in the Vatican and his paintings of the Madonna.
The National Gallery’s Raphael exhibition delves into the artist’s complete career, from his training in Urbino to his time in Florence. It looks at how Raphael’s artwork transformed throughout his life and explores his ability to re-invent himself, experimenting with different art techniques.
Take a look at several of Raphael’s drawings and paintings, as well as his poetry, tapestry and prints. Witness some of Raphael’s most significant masterpieces, such as The Madonna and Child. A particular highlight of the exhibition is the collection of portraits of the artist’s friends and patrons, including Donna Velata, Julius II and Giulio Romano.

Japanese artist and writer Yayoi Kusama began her ‘Mirror Room’ artwork series in 1963. The glittering, immersive mirror rooms explore the idea of distance and today’s interest in virtual spaces. Some of her most famous mirror room installations include Chandelier of Grief and Walking Piece, both of which are beautiful and thought-provoking. Each mirror room offers the opportunity to step inside the illusion of infinite space.
The Mirror Rooms represent some of the most popular works of art today. As a result, Tate Modern has extended the exhibition until 2023. Come and experience these special installations and witness early documentation of the artist’s events and performances.
