National Brewery Centre
Enjoy an immersive day out learning about the ins and outs of brewing and the unique heritage of beer at the National Brewery Centre. The museum explores real-life experiences, and the tour takes visitors on a journey through the history and process of brewing, as well as looking at the role that steam engines and vintage vehicles played. The centre runs a range of events, and offers a café, gift shop, and ‘The Beer Boutique’ for those wishing to pick up a souvenir or local beer.
Opening hours vary depending on the time of year. Admission includes the guided tour, car parking, and three beer tasting vouchers (adults) and costs £8.95 for adults and £4.95 for children. The National Brewery Centre sits a twenty-five minute drive from our Leonardo Hotel East Midlands Airport.
National Space Centre
Embark on a journey that is out of this world at the National Space Centre. A great attraction for those of all ages, the space centre offers six interactive galleries, an iconic Rocket Tower, the UK’s largest planetarium, a weather pod, a myriad of ‘hands-on challenges’, and a 3D SIM ride. There’s also an onsite café and gift shop, and the centre runs a range of special events.
The centre is open 10am-4pm Tuesday-Friday, closing an hour later on weekends. Tickets cost £13 for adults and £11 for children. The National Space Centre is a twenty-five minute drive from Leonardo Hotels.
The Aeropark
Situated at the East Midlands Airport, The Aeropark is a unique aviation museum exhibiting 26 aircrafts for you to explore, as well as a range of ‘airport infrastructure items’, such as a mobile ATC van, and a radar and IRVR unit. The Romney building dates back to WWII and houses engine exhibits as well as displays of aviation memorabilia. There is also a ‘viewing mound’ for visitors to view and photograph airplanes taking off and landing.
Entrance costs £3 for adults and £1 for children, and the park is open Thursdays and weekends during the summer and Sundays during winter. The Aeropark sits on the north side of the airport, just five minutes from our hotel.
The Donington Grand Prix Collection
Situated at Donington Park race circuit, the Donington Grand Prix Collection is the largest showcase of grand prix racing cars in the world. Spanning over four halls and displaying 130 exhibits, visitors can truly get a feel for the history of motorsport as they get close to the cars of iconic drivers. The exhibition also includes the Wheatcroft Military Collection which is home to a range of WWII vehicles and motorcycles.
The Donington Grand Prix Collection is open daily 10am to 5pm and costs £10 for adults and £4 for children ages 6-16. The collection is a five-minute drive from our hotel.
