Denso Marston Nature Reserve
The Denso Marston Nature Reserve, located between the River Aire and the Denso Marston factory in Shipley, developed in 1990 to benefit local wildlife and the community. The seven acre stretch holds a sanctuary of immense woodland, green meadows rolling as far as the eye can see, and shimmering sapphire pools home to a variety of British wildlife. Annual membership is only £7, the proceeds of which go to funding equipment and materials required for wildlife reserve projects.
The Nature Reserve is a short nineteen minute drive, alternatively, the 737 bus will take you just thirty three minutes from Leonardo Hotel Bradford.
The Great Northern Railway Trail
The Great Northern Railway Trail offers an exquisite walking route featuring simply stunning views and a range of attractions for you to discover, explore, and appreciate. With sights to see such as the three viaducts along the alpine path, the Goit Stock waterfalls, the birthplace and dedicated museum of the Bronte sisters, and a wide array of wildlife, the Great Northern Railway trail is ideal for a wonderful day out with the family.
The route starts around 5 miles from our Bradford hotel, just a seveteen minute drive or bus (576) ride away.
Saltaire World Heritage
Declared a World Heritage Site in 2001, Saltaire is a charming little village located on the River Aire. Named after Sir Titus Salt, builder of a textile mill, the village still thrives today, welcoming visitors free of charge. The village mirrors beautifully classic Italianate architecture and contains several delicious places to eat, a number of quaint shopping markets offering a unique and special Bradford shopping experience, a lush, expansive park, and an adventure playground for the kids.
The UNESCO site can be found a nineteen minute drive from our hotel in Bradford, or thirty-two minutes on the 662 bus.
Skipton Castle
Over 900 years old, Skipton Castle is one of the best preserved medieval fortresses in England with every inch of the magnificent castle awaiting your discovery. Carrying a steep historical background, the grand manor endured a three-year siege during the English Civil War, and though the period has passed, the impressive stature and atmosphere still remains. Skipton Castle also has a tea room, a relaxing picnic area, and a gift shop.
This day out is well worth the forty-five minute drive from Leonardo Hotel Bradford and admission is only £7.80 for adults, and £4.90 for children ages 5-17.
Harewood House
Situated in Yorkshire’s beautiful countryside, Harewood House offers three centuries of elegant history and culture that is almost unrivalled. Harewood House is around a forty-one minute drive from Leonardo Hotels and is free for its existing members. For non-members, adults pay £16.50 and children £8.50.
Xscape
Offering the United Kingdom’s biggest real snow slope amongst a range of exciting activities, Xscape Yorkshire is considered the pinnacle of fun days out in the region. The winner of multiple awards, the complex also gives you the chance to enjoy some climbing, indoor skating, an aerial assault course, and even four-dimensional golf. For bargain hunters, Junction 32 allows for some retail therapy, whilst thrill seekers can immerse in the bright lights and peculiar sounds of Laserzone, before unwinding at one of several restaurants onsite.
